Clean extinguishing agent - FE-36

FE-36 extinguishing agent is one of the best extinguishing agents from the point of view of its effect on the environment and the human organism. This concerns an agent, which is non-corrosive, non-conducting, without residue, with zero potential effect on the ozone layer (ODP=0) and one which is ecologically and toxically unobjectionable.
The extinguishing agent is a suitable replacement for the ecologically objectionable and prohibited Halon extinguishing agent (Halon 1211, 1301), for the prohibited FM100 extinguishing agent and also the restricted Halotron I extinguishing agent from the point of view of toxicology and permitted higher amounts of extinguishing concentration used. FE-36 extinguishing agent fulfils the conditions of the Montreal Protocol and is not ranked among those substances, which damage the ozone layer. Use of this conforms with international and Czech laws and edicts issued for the protection of the atmosphere and the ozone layer.

Tests, which were originally carried out by the American Navy and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) show that FE-36 has a very low toxicity at a relatively high extinguishing concentration. The extinguishing concentration is 5.30% of the volume. In comparison, for example, with the extinguishing concentration of FM-200 this value in the case of FE-36 is almost half, which creates better economic conditions for use of the extinguishing agent. All studies of development toxicity and cardiac sensitivity are very favourable and the NOAEL value (which is the concentration level of substances in the atmosphere at which no unfavourable effects on the human organism were observed) is 10% and the LOAEL value (which is the lowest concentration level of substances in the atmosphere at which unfavourable effects on the human organism were observed) is 15%.

The substance has all requisite certificates, which are required by the regulations for fire safety in connection with further environmental regulations and protection of health in relation to protected interests, which are health, life, property and the environment. These facts have been verified, for example, by the Opinion of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, reg. no.: HEM-3439-29.04.97/17881 of 6.5.1997 regarding the matter: Extinguishing medium: FE-36 manufactured by Du Pont Nemours International – proposal for introduction into circulation in CZ.

A catalogue list has been issued for extinguishing agents, part of which is a document with type evaluation of property conformity of fire equipment or means classified for fire safety with technical-tactical requirements, where the Ministry of the Interior - head office of the rescue service of the CZ evaluated the conformity of properties of FE-36 extinguishing agent by Du Pont with the technical-tactical requirements and designated this extinguishing agent for use by the rescue service of the CZ under reg. no.: PO-1253/II-97 of 16.6.1997.

The Ministry of the Environment issued Opinion reg. no.: 578/520/97 of 19.5.1997, in which, among other matters, it is stated that import and use of this extinguishing medium is not restricted in the Czech Republic.

The currently authorised person: 221 at the Technical Institute for Fire Safety at the Ministry of the Interior issued certificate type no. 221/0067/1999 for the FE-36 extinguishing agent, where the above-mentioned authorised person certified by means of this certificate that in the case of the sample of the substance in question, conformity was ascertained between its properties and the basic requirements of governmental decree no. 173/1997 Coll., which is used to determine selected products for evaluation of conformity. The certificate with the above-mentioned number was drawn up on 31.8.1999.

TEPOSTOP limited liability company is neither the manufacturer nor the importer of this substance on the Czech market. TEPOSTOP® is the manufacturer of fire extinguishers, FIRESTOP® automatic extinguishing systems and local, stable FIRESTOP® stabil extinguishing equipment, where one of the many possible types of extinguishing agent used is FE-36 with a view to its unique properties both in relation to the environment and also in relation to its extinguishing effectiveness when used for various types of fires, especially for extinguishing of computing and information technology as well as other types of technology etc.
